Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Council of the Arab League has acclaimed as "advanced" the Arab strategy implemented for the peaceful uses of atomic energy in Jordan and a number of other Arab countries.

During a two-day Arab summit in Nouakchott, Mauritania, a resolution made by the Arab League Council pointed to the "sophisticated" measures undertaken by Arab states to construct nuclear power plants, referring to Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

The Council urged Arab countries, which are not members of the Arab Atomic Energy Agency, to quickly join the agency's membership, and also called on states that had not paid their dues to the agency's budget to deliver.

Also, it emphasized the importance of the Arab Atomic Energy Agency achievements in implementing the Arab strategy for peaceful uses as an inherent right of State members to the Treaty on Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, joined by all member states of the Arab League.
