Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation views another extension of the time limits for operation of the Armenian nuclear power plant after 2026 as possible and is ready to provide assistance. This is what director of the program for extension of the time limit for operation of the Armenian nuclear power plant Yuri Sviridenko said during a panel discussion entitled “Prospects for the Development of Atomic Industry in Armenia” today.

“Russia has offered options for implementation to the Armenian party, but it is up to the Armenian party to determine the issues related to the concept paper on the development and upgrading of systems of the nuclear power plant,” he said.

Advisor to the General Director of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant Gera Sevikyan stated that the ANPP has developed a concept paper on the time limit for re-operation of the nuclear power plant after 2026 and stated that after upgrading of the nuclear power plant, it will only operate for five years (until 2026), but the work that is being done is for 8 or more years. The specialist says extension of the time limit is necessary for Armenia, taking into consideration the interests of energy security.
