MELITOPOL, March 11. /TASS/. An increase in bombardments on the frontline districts of the Zaporozhye Region, along with a large-scale nighttime drone attack on other regions of Russia, coincided with a meeting of delegations from Kiev and Washington in Saudi Arabia. This development serves as evidence of Vladimir Zelensky's "barbaric" desire to prolong the armed conflict and thwart any prospects for peace, according to Yevgeny Balitsky, the governor of the Zaporozhye Region.
"Over the past three days, we have experienced a surge in artillery bombardments and drone attacks on the frontline areas of the Zaporozhye Region. As before, these strikes targeted civilian facilities. It is clear that the crimes committed by the Kiev regime, both in the lands of Novorossiya and in other peaceful regions of Russia, are indicative of Zelensky and his gang's barbaric intent to prevent peace at all costs. This explains why he issued the inhumane order to attack Russians on the eve of the American-Ukrainian delegations' meeting in Saudi Arabia," Balitsky told TASS.
On March 10, the Kamenka-Dneprovskaya, Kuibyshev, and Pologi municipal districts of the Zaporozhye Region faced intense artillery bombardments and drone strikes. The region’s Health Ministry reported a significant escalation in the shellings of Kamenka-Dneprovskaya by the Ukrainian military on March 9, 10, and 11, with the city hospital itself coming under fire. As a result of the shelling, ammunition fragments damaged the facade of the hospital building. The radiology department, along with its equipment and machinery, sustained considerable damage.
According to the Defense Ministry, 337 Ukrainian drones were intercepted over Russian regions in the early hours of March 11, including 91 in the Moscow Region, and six UAVs in the area of the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant. The attack was the strongest in 2025. The Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case for terrorism. The Health Ministry reported that as a result of the UAV attack in the Moscow Region, 18 people, including three children, were injured, and three adults were killed. Apartment buildings and other facilities suffered damage as well.
