Prague, March 13, 2025 /MONTSAME/. On March 12, 2025, President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa met with Mongolian students studying at Czech universities under the “President’s Scholar - 2100” Scholarship Program.

Among the 29 scholarship recipients, eight are studying civil engineering and computer science at the Technical University of Prague, and the remaining 21 are enrolled in Czech language courses at the Institute for Language and Preparatory Studies of Charles University in Poděbrady. Starting this autumn, they will begin their chosen majors, which include nuclear engineering, computer science, food quality and security, and statistics.

The meeting was also attended by four students studying in the Federal Republic of Germany for over a year under the “President’s Scholar - 2100” Scholarship Program. The university administrators noted that these students have demonstrated outstanding academic performance.

President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa wished the students to honor the trust of the Mongolian people, study diligently, and contribute to Mongolia’s development and prosperity. The Head of the State expressed confidence that the students would become leaders of the country.

During the State Visit of the President of Mongolia to the Czech Republic, the two sides agreed to increase the number of Mongolian students to study at Czech public universities under the “President’s Scholar - 2100” Scholarship Program according to the Agreement between line Ministries of the two countries.

Mongolia and the Czech Republic will organize summer courses on linguistics and literature annually to engage students, teachers, and researchers in short-term training, foster mutual learning about the languages and cultures of the two countries, and deepen their knowledge.

In the 2023-2024 academic year, over 120 Mongolian citizens studied at Czech universities and colleges.

The National University of Mongolia (NUM) began training specialists in Czech studies and international relations in 1992. In 2006-2007, the Czech Studies Center at NUM was renovated through a project by the Czech Development Agency, providing books, textbooks, and manuals and employing expert teachers. Since 2023, a Czech language teacher has been working at the Department of Slavic Studies at NUM.

Since 1955, more than 20 thousand Mongolians have studied in Czechoslovakia. Until 1989, Czechoslovakia annually accepted 40 Mongolian students, technical trainees, and postgraduate students.
