Oregon softball is back home for its first Big Ten series at Jane Sanders Stadium with a No. 8 national ranking and the national player of the week.

The Ducks are also dealing with some logistical changes with rain expected for their three-game series against Illinois.

Friday’s opener will start at 3 p.m. instead of the original 6 p.m. start time. Sunday’s series finale has been moved up an hour to noon. Saturday’s game is at 4 p.m.

Oregon (26-3, 2-1 Big Ten) is coming off a 2-1 weekend against Washington in Seattle to open conference play. The Illini are 13-12 overall and 1-2 in the Big Ten.

Sophomore infielder Katie Flannery hit .692 with four home runs and 12 RBIs against the Huskies. She was 9 for 13 with four home runs, a double, a triple and nine runs scored.

She was named the Big Ten player of the week on Tuesday and the Louisville Slugger/NFCA national player of the week Wednesday.

“It’s always good to represent the team like that,” Flannery said. “… Starting the Big Ten with a series win is great for us. Obviously, we wanted the sweep but just to be able to do that is a good start.”
