SUNBURY — The Rotary Club of Sunbury is holding a Kentucky Derby-themed fundraiser April 4 at Whispering Oaks Vineyard in Sunbury.
The event, Run for Your Money, will combine races that guests can bet on in the form of donations on their favorite local charities. As charities' donation amounts increase, they will move closer to victor. The winning nonprofit will receive a grand prize and attendees who support a winning organization will also have a chance to share in the winnings, according to organizers.
Guests are encouraged to wear derby-style attire and will be able to enjoy mint julep-tasting, hors d'oeuvres and a complimentary drink. A cash bar will be available.
Proceeds will directly benefit participating nonprofits, including the Degenstein Community Library, Sunbury Revitalization, Inc., Susquehanna Valley CASA – Voices for Children, Susquehanna Valley United Way, The Arc Susquehanna Valley, The Rotary Club of Sunbury, and Transitions of PA.
Tickets are $45 in advance or $50 at the door for the event, which will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the vineyard, 1306 State Route 61, Sunbury. Doors open at 5 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at Whispering Oaks Vineyard, the Degenstein Library, on 5th Street in Sunbury, or online at events.humanitix.com/run-for-your-money.
