Rain and possibly scattered snowflakes across Massachusetts Monday
A mix of rain and snow may make roads slippery on Monday morning for parts of Massachusetts before heavy downpours arrive in the afternoon.
The WBZ Weather Team has issued a next weather alert because of the mixed precipitation.
Snow Monday
Any accumulation will be very light, with most areas picking up only light slushy coatings of snow, if any, before it's washed away by the rain.
Higher elevations of the Worcester Hills and Berkshires have the best chance of seeing minor accumulation, with a couple inches possible in northern New England.
Rain Monday
The mix of rain and snow is most likely from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., with most areas changing over from wet snow to rain mid to late morning.
The afternoon will feature more rain showers. Heavy downpours at times may make navigating the roads much slower.
This system will be moving out pretty quickly.
We expect the majority of the precipitation to be all wrapped up by 8 p.m. Monday. Rain totals will be light. Most stay under about a half-inch of new rainfall through Monday evening.
