Residents across Newark and the North Jersey region are waking up to a brisk and blustery start to the second half of the weekend, with cold temperatures expected to stick around throughout the day.Good Sunday morning, New Jersey.

If you're headed out early to your house of worship or for any weekend plans, winter layers are a must.

Downtown Newark recorded a freezing 32 degrees just before 5 a.m., but wind chills are making it feel closer to 20 degrees.

Elsewhere in the region, the cold has settled in, with Sussex County coming in at 27 degrees, Haledon at 29, Morristown at 28, Edison at 30, and Paterson shivering at 27 degrees.

The biting wind will make conditions feel even colder than the actual temperatures for much of the morning.

According to the National Weather Service, the forecast for today is sunny, with a high near 49 degrees. However, wind chill values between 20 and 30 will persist early, and northwest winds could gust up to 21 mph.

Tonight, clouds will increase, with rain likely after 5 a.m. on Monday. The low is expected to be around 40 degrees.

So, while the sun will be out, the wind will keep things chilly—bundle up and enjoy your Sunday in NJ.
