It didn’t take long for Jesse Chavez to find a new baseball home after taking his release from the Texas Rangers.
The veteran right-hander is reportedly heading to a familiar spot.
According to The Athletic’s David O’Brien and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Justin Toscano, Chavez has signed a minor-league deal with the Atlanta Braves. This would be the sixth time in his career that Chavez would join the Atlanta organization.
The Rangers had signed Chavez, 41, to a minor-league deal in January. The reliever began his career with the Rangers organization in 2002.
He also pitched for the Rangers for part of 2018, then re-signed with the club for two additional seasons.
Chavez took his release from the Rangers after he was informed he would not make the team. He had a 9.45 ERA this spring.
Over 2023-24, he had a 2.57 ERA in 98 innings with the Braves.
