Michigan State takes down New Mexico in round of 32
CLEVELAND, Ohio. (WNEM) - After another slow start, Michigan State found a way to rally in the second half and advance.
New Mexico led 29-20 with 4:40 left in the first half but the Spartans would end the first 20 minutes on a 9-2 run.
They’d start the second half on a 6-0 run. The game would remain close until a surge from Michigan State.
MSU would extend their lead and end up taking down the Lobos, 71-63.
Senior Jaden Akins led the Spartans with 16 points. Tre Holloman scored 14 points off the bench while Frankie Fidler tallied 10 points off the bench.
Michigan State advances to the Sweet Sixteen where they’ll take on Ole Miss. Tip-off between the Spartans and Rebels is scheduled for 7:09 PM on Friday in Atlanta.
