Arizona guard KJ Lewis plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, ESPN’s Jeff Borzello reported. He averaged 10.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game this past season.
Lewis spent two seasons at Arizona and took on a bigger role as a sophomore in 2024-25. He appeared in 37 games and made six starts as the Wildcats made a run to the Sweet Sixteen of the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
Lewis turned in one of his biggest games as a sophomore in one of Arizona’s biggest games of the year. He dropped 21 points as the Wildcats used a strong offensive attack to defeat rival Arizona State in the penultimate game of the regular season.

KJ Lewis played high school basketball at El Paso (TX) Chapin, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 81 overall player from the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Arizona saw its season come to an end in the Sweet Sixteen on Thursday with a loss to Duke. That meant the Wildcats finished with a 24-13 overall record, as well as a 14-6 mark in Big 12 play in the program’s first year in the conference. Arizona made it to the conference tournament championship game, which ended with a loss to Houston in Kansas City.

After the season-ending loss to Duke, Tommy Lloyd looked back on the season. It wasn’t always easy – Arizona was 6-5 in non-conference play – but he praised the way his team stuck together.
“Super proud of our guys,” Lloyd said. “I mean, our guys really hung with it this year, and the season was obviously an adventure, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I learned so much about myself, and I think these guys learned a lot about themselves and our group. And just for us to hang in there and give ourselves a chance to make a run in the NCAA Tournament really says something about the character of these guys that we had in the locker room, and honestly the character of our coaching staff.
“When you’re at a place like Arizona and you hit some rough waters, it can be tough. But we persevered, and we’re better for it and our program is better for it.
