TRENTON, N.J. — New Jersey is bracing for several rounds of rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds this week as an active weather pattern brings unsettled conditions from tonight through the weekend.

Wednesday night begins with a 30% chance of showers after 2 a.m., with cloudy skies and a low around 43 degrees. Winds from the southeast could gust up to 25 mph, though rain totals are expected to remain below a tenth of an inch.

Thursday brings a higher risk of storms, especially in the morning. Showers and thunderstorms are likely before 11 a.m., with additional chances continuing through the afternoon. Highs will rise to around 75 degrees, with southwest winds reaching 30 mph in gusts. Rainfall will generally be light, though stronger thunderstorms may produce locally higher amounts.

Thursday night, the chance of precipitation jumps to 80% as more showers and thunderstorms move in after 2 a.m. Lows will dip to about 57 degrees, with rainfall amounts potentially reaching a quarter inch in spots.

Rain continues into Friday, mainly in the morning hours, with a high near 66 degrees. Winds will shift northwest at around 5 mph. Rain chances stay elevated at 80%, but additional precipitation will remain light.

The forecast remains soggy through the weekend. A 30% chance of rain lingers into Friday night, with heavier rainfall expected Saturday, when the chance of precipitation rises to 70% and daytime highs fall to 53 degrees. Saturday night and Sunday continue the unsettled trend with a 50% and 40% chance of rain respectively.

The wet weather culminates Sunday night, when showers are likely again and temperatures settle near 47 degrees.
