Bank of America awards $30K grant
to South County Habitat for Humanity

CHARLESTOWN – Bank of America Corp. has awarded South County Habitat for Humanity a $30,000 grant to help build more affordable housing in southern Rhode Island this year.

In addition, Bank of America volunteers from Rhode Island recently helped with the construction of a multifamily home in Exeter as part of “Global Build Week,” in which bank employees from the around the world partner with local Habitat organizations to improve access to affordable housing.

“The need for affordable housing here in Rhode Island continues to be a huge challenge for many families, with 1 in 7 spending more than 50% of their income on housing costs,” said Colin Penney, executive director of South County Habitat for Humanity. “Our partnership with Bank of America, from both a financial and a volunteer perspective, has made a tremendous impact on our mission of helping local families find a place to call home.”

Between Oct. 5 and Oct. 12, Bank of America employees joined with their local Habitat organizations to build and rehabilitate houses as part of Global Build Week.
